iSeries Support Analyst
Your Background/Experience
- At least 5 years experience operating iSeries
- Demonstrated experience of OS/400 v 5.3 and above
- Demonstrated knowledge of standard policy and procedures within an iSeries environment
- Experience of replication software (i.e. Vison/Mimix)
You Report to:
iSeries Operations Manager
Your Job Purpose
- Monitoring IT systems and following procedures/diagnostics to maintain continuity in service
- Support for all iSeries and iSeries Web based infrastructure equipment
- Responding to helpdesk calls, performing daily checks, status monitoring and reporting, call logging and system checks

Your Responsibilities:
- Within an on-call rota responsible for performing and supervising routine processing and operational tasks
- Control of the multiple iSeries environments
- Managing the out queues, job descriptions, job queues, memory pools and system resources to efficiently run the iSeries environments
- Monitoring of all iSeries jobs and production environments including WebSphere
- Maintaining shift logs detailing service timelines / decisions taken / incident background
- Preparing data centre service and incident reports
- Providing support for desktop environments where connected to the iSeries
- Involvement in IBMs BRMs save/restore procedures
- General housekeeping duties
- Supporting existing infrastructure
- Involvement in readiness for disaster recovery processors
- Operational Support for customers as per contractual agreements
- Installing PTF’s
- Communicating to support groups
- Undertaking any other tasks / responsibilities deemed necessary by your Senior Manager

Salary Range:
Contract rate: £15 - £20 per hour dependant upon experience, with a view to a permanent position after 6 months
