At MDS, Documentation forms an integral part of our solutions. Externally, it helps our customers understand and exploit those solutions to maximum advantage, while internally it provides invaluable reference material for training and knowledge sharing purposes.

As part of the MDS Technical Author team you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast paced team, producing documentation for a range of exciting projects.  You will create and maintain a variety of customer-facing documentation to support the product set, ensuring that this is delivered to its target audience in the most effective way possible.  On a wider scale, you will assist in offering a more general Documentation Management service to the broader organisation.

Life as a Technical Author at MDS

Being a Technical Author within MDS is a challenging role which calls for extreme focus, meticulous attention to detail, strong self-motivation and excellent organisational skills as you are consistently required to deliver quality documentation in a timely fashion for a variety of separate or intertwining projects.   The ability to multi-task is another important attribute as you are often required to simultaneously perform both the Documentation team manager and author roles on a project.

You will develop and maintain user and technical documentation for all MDS products by gathering and interpreting information from the business and then presenting this in a format that is clear and understandable to its intended audience. The types of documentation produced include user manuals, release notes and help topics.

You also have the opportunity to provide support and assistance to the wider business on a continuing basis to meet a variety of internal and external needs, including Documentation Management, proof reading and the house styling of documents and templates on request. Being able to provide a service which is beneficial to both the individual and the business as a whole is one of the most rewarding aspects of this exciting role.
