Soft-coded parameters have been adopted where it is most advantageous, allowing end-users to specify and change processes directly without turning to IT support.  

A key benefit this delivers is in setting up new tariffs – these are typically introduced with little notice and when time to market is essential.  The use of soft coding means that the vast majority of new tariffs can be user-defined in line with market demands and marketing ideas, cutting out the long and costly process of specifying and coding system changes.
